Since you asked …

They say every person is unique; I just like to think I’m a little more unique than most.

I’m 22 and a graduate of St. Bonaventure University (major: journalism), the Greatest Place on Earth. I’ve lived in the same town 30 miles south of Buffalo all my life — we have a love-hate relationship — but it’s instilled me with a fondness for rural America I’ll probably never lose. I grew up in a family of six and have learned to appreciate every minute of it.

I’m a conservative libertarian and an existential transcendentalist. I enjoy looking at the stars on a clear night and contemplating the universe and my place in it. I’ve come to terms with my mortality and I appreciate life. I’m an eternal optimist and I believe attitude makes up 95 percent of how life is spent — and I almost never have a bad day.

I have a passion for writing, reading and sports — and sometimes all three combined. Music is my main hobby. People would probably say I’m an elitist, but I just say I like good music. Don’t ask me what my favorite song is; sometimes it changes by the minute.

I’ve loved the Yankees since I became a baseball fan, which is to say that I’ve hated the Red Sox since I became a baseball fan. I’ve always loved hockey and the Sabres, and I used to want to be the next Rick Jeanneret (which doesn’t mean I still wouldn’t want his job). I enjoy golf, but only when I drive to the fairway and two-putt to finish the hole. I’m a runner (sometimes) and, when feasible, would much rather bike than drive.

I’m a Coca-Cola person (and it’s called pop, thank you very much), and I’ll take a fountain Coke over cans or bottles any day of the year. Compared to most college students, I suppose I’m a beer aficionado — a case of bottled Labatt Blue is usually found in my fridge. I love summer and just about everything that comes with it, especially thunderstorms. My favorite nights are warm ones spent outside in a T-shirt and shorts, with good friends and good beer (and bug spray or a fire).

I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge that is embodied in the obnoxious way I surf Wikipedia. I read all the time, mostly from newspapers, but there’s nothing like a good book. I strive for impeccable grammar and fail often, but I learn each time. I’d rather not wear socks if the occasion doesn’t call for them. I like dressing up but you’ll usually find me in a T-shirt and zip-hoodie. I’m an amateur photographer. I’m a picky eater who’s trying to expand his culinary horizon. I was better in the kitchen when I was 13 than I am now.

I have the greatest friends in the world, and they know me as a loyal and trustworthy individual who says what he means and means what he says.

I like to think of myself as an intelligent, poetic and contemplative individual, a mystery or enigma other people feel they need to unravel.

I welcome you to try.

One more thing: I despise broccoli.
